I am researching my family history and
some of my ancestors were in Stanley around 1851. My family line is
Archibald McQuarrie married to Anne Keiller (she died in Stanley in
1861 at Stanley Cottages (The Cottages in Mill St). Thomas
Keiller McQuarrie married 3 times and all wives were from
Stanley. Isabella Scobie, Janet Cuthbertson and Mary Brown
Orrock. Their children, Isabella Bruce McQuarrie married
David Donaldson and had one daughter I know of. Jessie Neil
McQuarrie married John Craigie and they had a child, John. Would
like to know if anyone is connected to any of these and can provide
further info if required.
Thank you. Mary Arnold

Porter and
Chalmers
I am looking for
descendants of David Kennedy Porter & Janet (aka Jessie Anderson)
who lived in Stanley. They married in 1891 in King St and both
died at 4 King St in the 1950's.
David was the brother
of my great grandfather John Porter and Catherine Fergus who lived at
1 Percy St and died in the 1930's. Catherine's mother Ann
Fergus/Whittet/Pratley nee Chalmers and grandmother Catherine Chalmers
nee Buchanan both had also lived at 1 Percy St.
Thanks - Evelyn

Can anyone help me
to trace the birth of my Great Grandmother Jessie Fisken who I
believe to have been born in Stanley in 1843 ? I have tried all the
usual websites without success. She appears in Perth with her
relatives at the 1851 & 1861 censuses aged 8 and 18, stating
that she was born in Stanley. Her parents were Thomas Fisken,
bootmaker of Perth and a Mary Ann Cameron. I think that she was
illegitimate, and the Perth Parish Records state that this couple
married the following year, 1844. I guess that the pregnant Mary Ann
was sent away from home, to Stanley, for her confinement. There
doesn't seen to be any subsequent entry of birth or baptism anywhere
at all, not even after the parents married, although they do appear
to have assumed responsibility for her. Any ideas, anyone ?

I am looking for

Stanley Perthshire he was one of five brothers and one sister Jessie, the
men were called John, James, Alec, Bill and Mason. John went into

Trying to trace any living members of
the Craigie family, of Stanley, especially anyone who may have heard
of John and George Craigie, who left Stanley with their mother Mary
just before the first world war, to live in Vancouver.
They joined the Canadian Expeditionary
Force and were both killed by the same shell at Vimy Ridge.
They were brothers to ' Muggie' Craigie,
who lived and died in Stanley Village. I can remember her when I was
a child, she lived in Store Street.

I am researching my husband's family
tree and his ancestors lived in West Tofts, Kinclaven from the
mid-1700s to the 1820s. Their names were McGregor and Stewart. Is
West Tofts an area or the name of a cottage? Is it still standing
today?
Would they have been tenants to Lord
Taymount?
Any help appreciated- especially if you
know an email or snail mail address for the present owners.

I am researching my family history and
wonder if anyone has information on a Blair or Blairford family who
lived in Redgorton and Stanley in the mid 1800's.
My Great Grandmother was Elizabeth
Blairford, born 1848, daughter of Alexander Blair and Elizabeth Jack
of Redgorton, Stanley. For some reason she changed her name to
Blairford in later life. I have visited Stanley on a couple of
occasions and looked at gravestones, but have not come up with any
information. Any leads or background information on the family would
be welcome.
